Soup Broth Asia

If you love home-made soups, you'll enjoy the offerings at Soup Broth Asia.

The Asian counterpart to the popular The Soup Spoon, Soup Broth Asia serves up an array of nutritious, wholesome soups.

The casual concept is perfect for those on the go – simply place your order at the counter, pay (cash payment only), and wait for your meal to be served.

We love the fact that Soup Broth Asia caters to takeaways – working moms can simply pack home-brewed soups to take home for their families on hectic days when there's no time to slave over the kitchen stove.

The fact that all the soups are brewed in-house, with recipes lovingly fine-tuned by chef Anna Lim to maximize taste while minimizing calories, scores brownie points with us.

The weight conscious will also love how the exact calorie content of each item is displayed on the menu, taking the guesswork out of your choices.

Casual, unpretentious and cozy. Tables are one the smallish side, designed for quick dining either alone or in small groups. .

Must-tries
• The Lotus Root with Pork Rib Soup is full-flavoured and rich-tasting. Generous slices of lotus roots and pork ribs make this a hearty meal. (S$8.20)
• We also liked the Seafood Tom Yam Soup, which had just the right amount of flavor without being too spicy. ($10.20)
• The appetizers are surprisingly good – we particularly enjoyed the Kimchi and the Sweet and Sour Pork.

Price factor
Budget S$10-15 for a meal. Soups are priced between S$6.20 to S$10.20, while Set Meal add-ons are priced at S$3.80 and S$4.80.

Things you didn't know
The gourmet stock used in the soups at Soup Broth Asia is prepared using a unique method that takes at least eight hours. Ingredients are cooked separately, and are then cooked with the gourmet stock. This cooking process preserves the nutritional value of the ingredients without sacrificing on taste.

Verdict
Best suited for quick meals rather than leisurely catch-ups with one's girlfriends. However, Diva thinks this is a great place for busy women who are pressed for time yet want to have a fulfilling yet healthy meal.
