"Birthday bash": Hazing gone too far?

Sat, May 15, 2010

IN yet another hazing video being circulated online, a student from Bedok View Secondary School was filmed being carried by a few other schoolmates, who then rammed his private parts against a pole.

Also known as 'birthday bash', 'jacking' or 'pillaring', the process has been a common hazing activity among male students, but some schools have banned it from being performed on school grounds due to safety concerns.

Some concerned netizens wondered who would be responsible if 'permanent damage' were to be done, while others brushed it off as just 'harmless fun'. Is it?
