Users of contact lenses can be prone to eye infections and other complications if they do not clean and disinfect their lenses properly.

RevitaLens OcuTec Multi-purpose Disinfecting Solution, which was recently launched, promises high-quality disinfection and comfort for the user. Developed with input from more than 600 eye care professionals, the solution has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

A natural supplement for sweet dreams

A new supplement, Rilax Zzz, claims to initiate a calm state of mind so as to help you to sleep soundly.

Rilax Zzz contians Lactium, a naturally-occurring peptide found in milk proteins that has a calming, relaxing effect. It also contains L-theanine, an amino acid found in green tea leaves, that promotes an alert state of relaxation. Both ingredients have been shown in various studies to help promote sleep.

The all-natural supplement is said to be non-addictive, has no side effects and does not cause grogginess upon awakening.

Rilax Zzz is available at all Watson's stores at $48 for a pack of 24 capsules. Recommended dosage is 1-2 capsules an hour before bed for at least two weeks, or when necessary.

World's first LED lamp that protects the eyes

While LED lights are not uncommon, 3M has developed the world's first LED lamp that actually protects one's eyes.

The 3M LED1000 combines 3M's advanced polarizing light filter with LED technology to reduce glare by up to 80 per cent. This promotes reading comfort and reduces the strain on one's peepers, especially when working in front of the computer or reading for long periods of time.

The lamp also has seven adjustable brightness levels with touch sensor control, thus allowing the user to customise the amount of light for every activity.

Moreover, the eco-friend LED bulb lasts up to 40,000 hours and consumes only 1.3 to 11.2 watts. It does not emit harmful UV rays, and also does not contain mercury.

The LED1000 will be available at S$269 from mid-January 2011, at Best Denki, Home-Fix and Popular bookstores.

Light up and banish those nasal allergies

Nasal allergies - also known as allergic rhinitis - can significantly impair one's quality of life.

While there are medications available to help relieve the symptoms of runny nose and nasal stuffiness, some people prefer to avoid taking pills or sprays wherever possible, as they are concerned about possible side effects such as drowsiness or palpitations.
