Mini 50th anniversary celebration at Clarke Quay

Sept 10, 2009
By Tony Ng

Last month, Mini celebrated their 50th anniversary by taking over Clarke Quay.

Throngs of Mini owners, enthusiasts and fans turned up for good food and great fun. There were also games like the Mini Xtreme challenge and a Mini race.

It was all fun for a good cause as a portion of the proceeds raised during the anniversary celebrations were donated to The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund.

Continuing the celebration today is a Mini heritage exhibition at the ION Orchard. Four new Minis and the 1965 Mark 1 Mini Cooper will be on display, including the special edition Mini 50 Tattoo designed by renowned artist Kirby Lian.

Cheryl Chiok, general manager of Trans Eurokars said: “We would like to thank our partners and everyone who came down to celebrate with us."

She added: "As we celebrate MINI's 50 years of milestones, we would like to give back to society. Thus, we are glad to raise some funds through our event and contribute it to the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund to benefit more than 9,000 school children from low-income families."

The Mini heritage exhibition is happening at the public plaza of ION Orchard and ends Sept 14.
