The Tokyo Motor Show kicked off on Oct 21 as the press oohed and aahed at the futuristic concept cars.

Plug-in hybrids, zero-emission electric vehicles and a hydrogen-powered scooter all jostled for the limelight.

The 41st Tokyo Motor Show opened in a subdued atmosphere, with practically no foreign car brand attending.
