MERCEDES-BENZ’S newest four-door coupé is already gaining a lion’s share of attention – months before its world premiere at the 2010 Paris Motor Show in October.

Images and design details released by the German automaker on Sunday – depicting a sleek, athletic yet sophisticated vehicle – has set the automotive community buzzing.

The new CLS will build on exisiting characteristics of its series, sporting a long bonnet, narrow-look windows, and a roof which sweeps back at an angle to the rear. But it will also be a radically different creature, with a radiator grille separated from the bonnet, and long elongated air inlets.

Another key feature will the full LED headlamps, which according to Mercedes-Benz, is the first in the world to offer all of the regular light functions using LED technology. A total of 71 LEDs are employed, for that matter.

The car’s athletic style gains more prominence this time, with flared wheel arches and a muscular sports car-like shoulder line above the rear axle.

Inside, the new CLS will offer a wide variety of individualisation options with five interior colours, five trim designs and also three qualities of leather to choose from.

Here’s a sneak look at the new CLS:
