The 12th Shanghai International Film Festival was a star-studded event with cinema's best, from the east and west, gathered on the red carpet of China's financial capital.
The film festival's top prize, the Jin Jue - or the golden goblet - went to the independent film "Original", which is a Danish-Swedish comedy about mental illness.
The jury for the nine-day festival, one of the largest of its kind in Asia, was headed by Boyle and also included US actress Andie MacDowell and Hong Kong director Andrew Lau.
