Kartika Sari Dewi Shukarno, 32, pleaded guilty to consuming alcohol at a hotel nightclub in the eastern state of Pahang last year.
A religious court in Malaysia sentenced the Singaporean Muslim model to six strokes in July.
Her conviction created a furore in Malaysia which is predominantly Muslim, but also home to large Indian and Chinese minorities.
However, religious authorities on Monday freed Kartika, although she refused to leave a van taking her to jail when returned to her home, reported Reuters.
