Man stripped to the bone
The Straits Times By Akshita Nanda
The first thing you see are floating foetuses in clear tubes. Then there are doll-like specimens of developing babies and skulls of various sizes.
In the distance, an 'adult' man stripped of his skin is holding it up for scrutiny.
All these displays are part of Body Worlds: The Original And The Cycle Of Life, a showcase of real bodies that is on at the Science Centre Singapore from today until March next year.
The display features some 200 new authentic human specimens, as well as animal exhibits such as a giant squid, which will eventually form part of a 'Noah's Ark' showcase.
The man behind the lurid exhibition, which was last here in 2003, is Dr Gunther von Hagens, 64, who treats corpses with plastic to create long-lasting specimens which can be used for education.
