When girls wrestle

Students from a range of ages pit their wrestling skills against each other at the Wrestling Federation of Singapore's new training facility at Upper Aljunied Road.

The Chinatrust Charity King/Queen of the Mat 2009 was held on Nov 7.

The event was organised as an opportunity to introduce all ages to the sport of wrestling and to give them a chance to try out the sport in a modified format that was fun and safe for everyone.

The sport will be introduced at this year's SEA Games in Laos and at next year's inaugural Youth Olympic Games.

In a competition that featured female amateur wrestlers, it appears that the fairer sex are not afraid of taking hard knocks, and will fight just as hard to show each other who's boss.
