Dr Ionescu, who is the embassy's charge d'affaires, had earlier said that he was the last official to use the car involved in the accident.

He was also the one who lodged a police report that the car had been stolen on that day.

However, Dr Ionescu is no longer in Singapore to help with investigations and no one knows when he will return.
