Soccer legends cause a stir in Singapore

It was a once in a lifetime treat for Singaporean soccer fans as the sport's greats Pele and Eric Cantona came for a visit.

According to The Straits Times, a record number of 3,000 fans packed into the stadium at Jalan Besar to hobnob with two of soccer's most resounding names.

The pair were in Singapore to attend the official launch of the Courts Young Lion fan club partnership. They will also be opening a new football field at the Singapore Sports School on Friday.

Their appearance before tonight's match caused the crowd to erupt into loud cheers, who then broke out into Manchester United chants for the Frenchman.

They will be signing autographs at the Courts Tampines Megastore on Saturday, and will be here until Sunday.

Meantime, the match between the Courts Young Lions and Geylang United finished 3-2 in favour of the home side.
