Chinese actresses use wardrobe malfunction as publicity stunt

Chinese actress Sun Fei Fei suffered a wardrobe malfunction while walking the red carpet at the 2011 Esquire Men of the Year Award.

The graduate from the Beijing Dance Academy walked away from a photo session without realising that TV host Fang Ling was stepping on her dress. Her dress slipped off, exposing her bra.

An assistant hurriedly used a jacket to cover her.

Sun has appeared in Chinese TV serials such as Perfect Father, and Kongque Dong Nan Fei. In 2006, she also acted in the film An American in China.

Website Shanghaiist dismissed the wardrobe malfunction as a publicity stunt.

It explained: "There is something suspect about the gestures and expressions on Sun's face, as she reacts... to her being semi-exposed in front of a horde of cameras."

It added that Sun's body language conveyed "mock surprise" and that Fang Ling's facial expression looked exaggerated - both elements giving onlookers the impression that the whole incident was planned.
