A double rainbow was seen over many parts of Singapore after heavy rainfall affected much of the country yesterday evening. The Straits Times reported that the rainbow seen over Bukit Panjang spanned a few kilometres.

A rainbow is believed to be auspicious in Chinese culture and many netizens who spotted the rainbow wondering if it was a sign of things to come in the Year of the Dragon.

In emails to citizen journalism Stomp, the netizens hoped the rainbow signified good luck.

One netizen wrote," I never thought such a gorgeous rainbow could be seen in Singapore.

"With Chinese New Year only two days away, we can see a seven-colour rainbow clearly in the sky!

"I believe this is a good omen for Singapore."
