Mythical animals come alive at Chingay Parade 2012

A 88m-long dragon wove through the streets along Marina Bay at this year's Chingay Parade which is into its 40th year of celebrations.

The two-day event, held at the F1 Pitt Building, saw a turn-out of about 40,000 people on Friday night, reported The New Paper.

The guest-of-honour at the event was Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong who arrived in a neon-lit sampan boat on wheels. Mr Lee, himself, was born the in year of the Dragon in 1952.

Performers hail from seven countries from Egypt, China,Taiwan, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore, and a total of 8,000 participants practised over months to give the audience an unforgettable experience.
