Superheroes in our midst

Superheroes aren't always limited to appearing in comic books.

Sometimes they appear in real-life among us. While they may not have super powers, their appearance is enough to inject some humour and laughter into daily life.

Some of these superheroes take it a step further and actually help people who are in need.

Female 'superhero' helps Beijing's homeless

A Chinese woman created a buzz online for dressing up in a superhero costume and helping homeless people in Beijing.

In the photos, she wears a black outfit, complete with cape, gloves and a blue mask.

The woman calls herself "Chinese Redbud Woman" and started a microblog on Weibo to chronicle her adventures.

Fan undergoes surgery to look like Superman

Nobody would deny Herbert Chavez the title of Superman's "number one fan."

After all, the 35-year-old Filipino has undergone extensive plastic surgery just to look like his beloved man-of-steel, including chin augmentation for the iconic cleft, rhinopasty for Christopher Reeve's nose, silicone injections to the lips and thigh implants.

And these are just the procedures Herbert has admitted to.

Observers speculate that he may have undergone eye surgery and cheek and jaw augmentation.
