Life-sized Optimus Prime in Singapore from March 11 to 14

Transformers enthusiasts can catch a glimpse of a life-sized Optimus Prime replica in Singapore from March 11 to 14 at Resorts World Sentosa.

Standing at 22 feet tall, the giant model is part of the Cybertron Con 2012 event, which hosts a variety of exhibits and activities for Transformers fans.

The Optimus Prime replica was first displayed in one of the malls in Malaysia promoting Transformers Movie 3 Dark of the Moon in 2011.

It takes approximately two to three hours to dismantle, and is made of 3,000 pieces.

Each piece, made of aluminium, is hand-painted.

Enthusiasts can browse through displays of historical Transformers figurines from the original "Generation 1" series, the "Beast Wars" and the current "Transformers Prime' franchise. They can also take part in drawing workshops conducted by Hasbro artists.

There will also be displays of customised Transformers model kits contributed by local artistes such as filmmaker Eric Khoo, singers Jack & Rai and fashion director Daniel Boey.

Visitors can also watch screenings of Transformers Prime: Robots in Disguise, GI Joe Renegades, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and the Transformers movie trilogy in a mini 3D theatre or shop for merchandise such as toys, masks, T-shirts and keychains.
