Chinese property developers hire models to boost sales

Models for real property first appeared in Shanghai in 2003.

Business-savvy Shanghainese thought that showrooms, catalogs and architectural models were boring and unattractive, whereas pretty young girls radiate good vibes and could demonstrate the details of the architectural design and fashionable lifestyle.

Property developers believed that these models could motivate consumers to make purchases.

The models for real property in Beijing and Shanghai are reportedly paid 1,000 to 1,500 yuan (S$200 to S$299) per day. According to official figures available on the Internet, the average monthly income for these models in the two cities in 2009 are 4,036 (S$804) and 3,566 yuan (S$710) respectively.
