Strange and creepy food

Fancy a skull-shaped apple or a watermelon with hollowed-out eyes? Or how about a dish of creamed possum or bamboo worms?

One Russian artist, Dimitri Tsykalov, made some morbid sculptures out of ordinary fruits and vegetables, while Indian scientist Mohamed Babu, used sugar flavoured food colouring to turn translucent ants into three dimensional artwork.

In the second half of the gallery, we bring you strange and creepy items available in supermarkets that might not whet everybody's appetite. However, they might come in useful for a Halloween menu if you wish to add some ghoulish humour at your dinner party.
