A young Chinese girl has become an Internet sensation after posting a photo of herself doing splits in her room.

The photo first appeared on Chinese microblogging site Weibo.

Her posting also inspired other limber young ladies to post similar photos online to show off how they would execute a "perfect split".

Contributors to the meme decided to add some tongue-in cheek entries too.
