Missing woman, 21, found dead after 'ghostly' encounter at hotel

*UPDATES* - According to a news report on CNN, the autopsy by the Los Angeles Coroner's office has been "deferred" and might take around two months to figure out the cause of her death. The police found her death to be suspicious, said an AP report.

Meanwhile, residents at Cecil Hotel are horrified that a dead body has been found in the water tank. A hotel guest said he was "disgusted" that they might have been using or even drinking water that has been contaminated. However, it was reported on the news that the water has been tested for two kinds of bacteria and the results were negative. Another hotel guest said the whole incident was "kinda odd".

In China, a Shanghainese student has shocked netizens when he correctly predicted the location of Lam's body. He said her body was to be found in the water tanks of the hotel. Netizens dismissed him at the beginning and after the news reports confirmed it, they started to call him "god" and urged him to predict more.

LOS ANGELES - The body of 21-year-old Elisa Lam, the Canadian undergraduate who had gone missing during a stay at the allegedly haunted Cecil Hotel on Jan 31, has been found in one of the hotel's four water tanks.

According to the Los Angeles Times, police confirmed her identity through body markings on Feb 19 after she was found by a maintenance worker investigating complaints about low water pressure.

A CCTV camera footage showing the young woman acting strangely in the hotel elevator the night before she went missing is circulating on the Internet. In the video, Lam could be seen pressing buttons for multiple floors in the lift before stepping outside suddenly. She then looks quickly to her left and right before moving her arms around wildly.

Hotel Cecil is known for having been home to serial killers like Richard Ramirez, alias the 'Night Stalker', who was convicted of killing 14 people, as well as Jack Unterweger who committed suicide after being convicted for several murders involving prostitutes.
