Miss Hong Kong 2013 candidates slammed as 'ugly' and 'weird'

Despite the fact 129 hopefuls showed up for Miss Hong Kong 2013 auditions, the results were hardly pleasing to the eye - according to online media sources.

This year the slogan is: "Beyond Imagination". Yesterday at the first round of auditions, the quality of the candidates were indeed "beyond imagination", the media quipped.

Aside from 10 candidates who could barely be considered beautiful, the others were far below standard.

According to a Mingpao report, the first audition had a number of candidates, but the actual ones who had passing good looks were only a handful. According to reports, the majority were considered "weird" looking.

TVB's Production and Resource Director (Virgina Lok) and Non-Drama Production Director (Sandy Yu) expressed that there were nearly 2,000 applicants this year. Although 400 were chosen to participate in the first round of auditions, only 129 candidates actually turned up. On the bright side, many candidates were highly educated - with 10 holding a master's degree or PhD. There will be about 60 to 70 candidates chosen to participate in the second round of auditions.

This year the age range is quite large; most were 19 years old, but some were 26 or 27 years old. This year, 18 candidates will advance in the finals. Many girls had strange makeup and thus the judges were unable to see their actual looks. During the bikini portion, no tattoos were seen.

Miss Hong Kong 2013 semi-finals is to be held on August 25th. The finals will be held on September 1st.

Beautiful girls vie to be Miss S'pore Bikini International

Last weekend, 15 beauties from Singapore pit their best smiles and bodies to vie for the Miss Singapore Bikini International 2012 title.

The event was held at The W Hotel and saw over 200 guests and six judges who enjoyed their trip to the venue in a yacht sponsored by Simpson Marine.

Auditions for the first of its kind event here, which were held earlier this year, called for Singaporeans or PRs between the ages of 19 to 26 and of height 1.65m and above to apply.

Notable contestants include blogger Peggy Heng, who made it into the headlines for undergoing fully-sponsored plastic surgery and her fake oral sex video.

The crown eventually went to contestant number 12 Nadya, who will represent Singapore to compete with 80 over beautiful delegates from all over the world.
