AsiaOne's top news story of the year is the crackdown of pro-democracy demonstrators in Myanmar in September.
Besides taking 29 per cent of the votes, the event also sparked a flood of comments on the AsiaOne forum.
Coming in second with 25 per cent of the votes is the Formula One story. It was in May last year when Singapore revealed that it will host the Formula One Grand Prix in September 2008.
Rounding up the top three is the A380 story with 17 per cent of the votes. Singapore Airlines made the headlines in October by being the first to operate the largest commercial airliner ever built. Readers followed in awe the process from France to Singapore in obtaining the legendary aircraft and those that made the first flight.
