Many in the audience waited with eager anticipation.
And even though Triumph's Spring Summer fashion show, Sense
and Sensuality, started more than half an hour late, guests waited patiently
for the Singapore's version of Victoria's Secret fashion show to start.
Although more modest than its counterpart, the models tonight did not
disappoint with their sex-kitten poses and come-hither looks as they posed
in front of the non-stop flashing cameras.
Glamour puss: A Clara Bow inspired outfit |
Lots of ribbon, lace and plenty of bling made the outfits stand out, and the
models teased and seduced with offerings that ran the gamut from garters to
corsets and peek-a-boo slips.
Female icons such as Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Clara Bow,
Beyonce and Nicole Kidman provided the inspiration for the collections that
were presented, and looks ranged from sweet and innocent, to sensous and
seductive.
Some of the more inspiring pieces of the night even had the models strutting down the catwalk
in a toga top, that reminded you of a Grecian goddess revelling in her
sensuality, or tiny pastel bloomers that harked back to grandma's younger days.
The 30-minute show had 20 models display ten outfits each that revealed more
than it hid. Styles too, were as diverse as the women icons who inspired
them.
For example, '20s glamour ruled the evening as models flaunted feathered headbands
and boas that recalled Clara Bow's sexy innocence, with the glittering
crystals on them obviously inspired by Beyonce.
Then, lacy blacks were the order as the brand showed Audrey Hepburn-inspired
lingerie.
But the highlight of the night was a Swarovski crystal-studded piece that
was modelled by Charmaine Harn, who won the Ford Supermodel in 1996 and has
walked for Gucci on international runways.
Clad in a lilac-coloured two-piece and see-through matching short sarong
skirt, she attracted wolf whistles and applause from the audience, not just
for her striking appearance, but also for the $60,000 bra and thong set she had on.
Set with more than 7,500 pieces of Swarovski crystals weighing about
805g, the top alone is ten times heavier than the average one.
Aptly named the Celebrity Bra and flown in specially from Germany for the
show, the outfit was the show-stopper and highlight of the night. The bra
will also be on display at Metro Paragon for one month after the show.
It was indeed a sparkling and triumphant end to a sensuous evening.
