Seen & heard behind the scenes

Overheard at the recently concluded SFF, were some examples of bad behaviour that got on people's nerves. The shows may have been beautiful, but the attendees' social graces certainly was not up to par.

For example, there was the backstage manager who was looking at models when he should have been looking after them. He stared just a bit too long and hard while they were in various states of undress.

But the models were not exactly paragons of virtue either.

Word has it that they did not take to heart Singapore's stand on littering, and were dropping litter everywhere in the make-up room. Of course, the people in charge of the backstage were not too happy about it, as they had to pick up after them in order to keep up hygiene standards.

Even the media proved they can be a badly behaved lot too.

One videographer was reportedly seen sneaking his video camera into another videographer's space. Never mind that everyone had his space clearly defined.

Of course this got the other videographer upset enough to tell the first guy off. To which, he non-chalantly behaved as if nothing had happened, and the encroachment was just a figment of the latter's imagination.

But the clincher had to be this:

It was heard that a fashion reporter from a well-known English paper wanted to be seated next to her colleague, but unfortunately they arrived late and faced a lack of suitable seats, and so had to be separated.

They were two seats apart, to be exact.

The reporter started calling out loudly to her colleague, with two other members of the press still seated between them, saying she wished they could be together.

The other called back echoing similar sentiments.

All this while, the conversation was loud enough for the two who were caught in that crossfire to be in the know, but the first reporter never thought to make her request known to the strangers.

What a lack of manners, you say? There's more.

The first reporter called the PR person who was looking after the media over, and got the latter to do the asking.

The poor PR girl was sent scuttling to the next seat to relay the request, which promptly got turned down, since the person in the hot seat had overheard everything earlier.

And she was obviously not impressed by the rudeness she encountered.

The reaction from the next person down the row was the same when the PR girl awkwardly approached him with the same request.

The poor dear had little choice but to relay the replies back to the said reporter, even though all involved were more than aware of the proceedings.

That reporter waved it off and told the PR girl that it was all fine and dandy.

But strangely, she had never deemed to acknowledge the presence of the other two who had come between her and her colleague.

Did I hear you say, "meow"?
