The big boys in town are in for a fight as heartland shops gear up for the Great Singapore Sale (GSS).

Heartland shopping tours will make their debut this year. These trips venture into areas like Tampines New Town and will showcase unique shopping haunts beyond the well-trodden Orchard Road belt.

Lau Chuen Wei, executive director of the Singapore Retailers Association which is organising the GSS, said: “These tours will allow tourists to have a taste of how and where Singaporeans, such as housewives and students, live and shop.”
