Travel back in time at the iconic Tanjong Pagar Railway Station

Did you know that the upper floors of the iconic Tanjong Pagar Railway Station (TPRS) used to house a 34-room hotel?

This Deepavali, travel back in time by visiting TPRS and learn other little-known facts about the station.

The Singapore Land Authority (SLA) announced on Tuesday that the train station will be open to the public on Oct 29.

Take a walk down memory lane - all 24 kilometres of it - at the TPRS rail corridor and find out the historical significance of the place, if you haven't already. To help visitors travel back in time, there will also be a specially curated exhibition wall.

There's more in store for history buffs as heritage blogger Jerome Lim will be on hand to conduct a sharing session. He will be touching on the significance of TPRS, accompanied by thoughtful details and photos captured through his blog, The Long and Winding Road.

For those who have never visited the railway station, you might want to consider heading down as SLA said the upcoming event is "one of the final Open House (events) for TPRS".

There will also be food trucks and a farmers' market and photography workshops during the event. Children can also attend an interactive story-telling session and a kaleidoscope-making workshop. For more details, visit SLA's Facebook page.

Visitors are encouraged to take public transport as parking within Tanjong Pagar Railway Station is limited. The station will be open from 9am to 6pm. Admission is free.
