Mauritius, an island nation in the Indian Ocean, is reputed for its crystal clear waters, abundance of marine life, and world-class dive sites.

But that doesn't mean that you have to camp out on the waterfront when going on a beach holiday on the island.

The country's national airline, Air Mauritius most recently launched direct flights from Singapore to Mauritius in March. The thrice-a-week direct flight makes it more convenient for Singaporeans to jet off to the island paradise without worrying about costly transfers.

Now that you have more spending money, why not check into these three hotels for a luxurious stay?

Shangri-la Le Touessrok Resort & Spa

If a private beachside holiday is what you're looking for, Shangri-la's Le Touessrok Resort & Spa fits the bill. The hotel sits on the east coast of the island and overlooks a spectacular bay.

Services are so personal and private that the hotel doesn't even have a reception counter. Staff members greet guests upon arrival and directly lead them to their rooms to handle check-in proceedings.

The hotel is also a gateway to two offshore islands, Ilot Mangenie and Ile aux Cerfs, with the latter featuring a Bernhard Langer-designed 18-hole championship golf course. The hotel has over 200 rooms and suites, including three beach villas that each come with a private infinity pool as well as the option to engage a personal Villa Host who is available round the clock.

The Residence Mauritius

The large colonial mansion resort is a perfect getaway for families. Travelling with children can be stressful, so the hotel has created The Planters Kids Club where junior can explore the surrounding playgrounds, take part in treasure hunts and even go for snorkeling classes.

Parents who need some alone time can also engage babysitting services at the hotel's day nursery. Besides a special programme lineup for children, the hotel also offers glass-bottom boat tours for the whole family - a unique way to experience the coral reefs and pristine waters of Mauritius.

The Residence has 135 luxuriously appointed rooms and 28 suites which each come with a private balcony, patio or terrace.

The Westin Turtle Bay Resort & Spa Mauritius

The Westin is conveniently located in between Grand Bay - a popular stretch of bars and nightlife - and the shopping haven Port Louis.

But sometimes all you need to do on the ultimate holiday break is…nothing. With its focus on spa and wellness services, The Westin's got you covered. Guests can sign up for treatments at The Heavenly Spa or snap into a fitness regime at The Workout, the hotel's own holistic fitness programme.

Fitness buffs can also indulge in the hotel's culinary spread as the dishes are specially created with superfoods - ingredients that are power-packed with nutrients and antioxidants.

The hotel houses 190 guest rooms and suites and provides spacious private terraces or balconies. Guests can also access facilities at the Westin Executive Club Lounge which offers all-day refreshments and a private library.
