Visitors from around the world tell us what they think about Bangkok's huge weekend market.
In this week's round up from Tripadvisor we hear what foreign visitors say about Chatuchak, Bangkok's ever-popular weekend market.
Top of the mind issues are: it's massive, has interesting stuff and it's very hot!Kenny K, writing in Tripadvisor, suggested timing your visit between 9.30 am to 12.30 pm to avoid the stifling weather later in the day.
He also recommended 'Miangkam' (a popular Thai snack) and Coconut Ice-Cream - saying that both are a must try!
Somebody named "Kewpierose" visited the market at 3 pm and wrote "Hot as hell and it's so stuffy inside.
Sweating profusely till needed to buy a mini fan.
"Yet, Kewpierose seemed to like mango ice cream, describing it as "really weird".
The overall assessment: "Lots of shopping area there, I didn't think I'd explore all bcoz it was raining heavily. Bought some homemade purses and bags, good quality. Jewelry is very unique, I love it and bought a lot. Love the unique soap and it's the cheapest there (three for 100 Baht). I will go there again next time."
Ang Tien Beng from Singapore tended to agree.
Writing on Tripadvisor, he said: "Hot weather but luckily I visited the place between 10 am to 12 pm. It is suggested to bring along a battery-powered fan or buy a fan from the stores for about 100 to 150 THB."
Paul C from London was sympathetic: "Heartbreaking to see some disabled people here as street vendors, but they teach us to persevere in the face of difficulty. Please buy some small thing from one of them."
M B from Singapore wrote: "Went with a friend to this market on a sunny Sunday. First this place is massive! And while it's somewhat shaded, it can get very stuffy within the middle "alleys". So be sure to stay hydrated, wear sunscreen and a hat, and be prepared for crowds and a long walk. If you don't like shopping and you go there with someone who does, you will probably hate yourself the entire time."
John C said: "Of course beware of pick pockets in such a busy place. But I have always found the place to be safe and captivating."
Finally, last words from, Reinard K Depok from Indonesia: "Very lively, nice price, bad toilets".
