5 things you didn't know about Victoria's Secret Angel Lily Aldridge

If diamonds are a girl's best friend, then Victoria's Secret Angel Lily Aldridge is far from lonely as she cosies up to the US$2 million (S$2.8 million) Fireworks Fantasy Bra.

The 29-year-old US model will be parading it at the lingerie brand's 20th anniversary fashion show in New York on Dec 8, showing off the custom-made piece by jewellers Mouawad.

The bra has red garnets, blue topazes and more than 375 carats of diamonds set in 18 karat gold - more than 6,500 precious gems altogether.

It will be paired with cobalt blue panties with a matching detachable diamond belt.

Aldridge, who has been a Victoria's Secret Angel since 2010, was thrilled about being chosen.

"I'm super excited and I'm anxious to just get on the runway and wear it and be in that moment," she told People magazine.

She said to International Business Times: "It's probably the most well-fitted thing you could have on the runway, it was designed specifically for me, so I feel very good about it."

The bra is typically worn by the industry's hottest supermodels such as, in the past, Claudia Schiffer, Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum and Gisele Bundchen.

SHE'S MARRIED TO A ROCK STAR

He is Caleb Followill, 33, the singer and frontman of US rock band Kings Of Leon. The couple, who got married four years ago, met in California in 2007.

Of his reaction to her Fantasy Bra news, she told People: "He was so proud, he was so excited. He sent me flowers."

She wasn't always popular with the boys, she claimed. Aldridge said in an interview with Maxim magazine: "I know it's an age-old story that no one believes, but no one asked me out in high school.

"I don't know how I ended up where I am. I was so painfully shy as a child."

SHE'S A MUM

The couple have a three-year-old daughter, Dixie Pearl.

"She is a lot like Caleb," Aldridge told People.

"She's a firecracker. She has so much personality. She is so smart and she looks just like him as well.

"I always knew that Caleb would be an amazing father. He's always been amazing with kids."

Aldridge posed with Dixie for US Vogue's August 2013 issue, giving the toddler an early start to a possible future in modelling.

SHE LOVES FOOTBALL

Aldridge, who played the sport for 11 years, told Self magazine: "I always thought I was going to be a football player, get a scholarship to college and then join the US women's team."

Although she eventually went into modelling after getting scouted at the age of 14, she feels that being a Victoria's Secret Angel is similar to being a professional sportswoman.

"We're all athletes and the love I have for the other girls is so strong," she said.

SHE'S IN TAYLOR SWIFT'S SQUAD

You may recognise Aldridge from her cameo in the US pop star's music video for Bad Blood, where she played ice queen Frostbyte.

She also walked the Victoria's Secret runway with Swift, who performed at the show for two years in a row.

Swift and Dixie are "best friends".

Aldridge told People: "Dixie asks to go to Taylor's house every day. She loves to go upstairs and play with her cats."

SHE WORKS OUT TWICE A DAY

To prepare for the Victoria Secret's fashion show, Aldridge is pulling double daily workouts to get her body in tip-top shape.

"I usually do two workouts a day leading up to the show," she told Cosmopolitan magazine.

"I do 30 minutes of cardio and then do Ballet Beautiful workout for an hour.

"I love working out. I love it when I have the time and I can really focus on it. It feels good. You have a goal and you accomplish it."
