Baby dies an hour after mum leaves her at Penang orphanage

Life dealt the baby girl a terrible set of cards.

She was just two days old when her parent left her at an orphanage in Butterworth, Penang.

She would never grow up or speak her first word - because she simply didn't survive the ordeal.

The infant died an hour after being left at the orphanage, Malaysian paper Guang Ming Daily reported.

Abandoned due to parents' marital woes?

The mother, who is believed to be in her 20s, allegedly told the orphanage caretakers on Tuesday (Feb 24) that she needed to leave her child temporarily to solve her marital problems.

Her husband was having an affair with another woman and had left the family, Star Online said.

The woman left unnoticed when the caretakers were preparing milk for the baby.

The baby was found to be weak and rushed to hospital.

Unfortunately, she died soon after.
