Bata's fresh look

Bata's fresh look

Nearly every child knows it's "First to Bata, then to school".

But the Czech Republic-founded company is so much more than just a purveyor of school shoes.

To celebrate its 120th anniversary, the brand has refurbished its flagship store at Peninsula Plaza, where it has stood since 1935.

Customers can use the multimedia screen available to get product information without looking for a retail associate.

There are also two foot-scanning devices for people to find out about their foot type. This service is not available at the other Bata stores.

Even with all these improvements, its products are still pretty affordable.

Flip-flops are $9.95; women's leather moccasins are $59.95 and men's dress shoes are $189.
