Beauty secrets: Jessica Alba

JESSICA ALBA, 33

The American actress rose to prominence with her role in the television series, Dark Angel, in the early 2000s. The mother of two is best known for her movie roles in the noir film Sin City (2005), superhero film Fantastic Four (2005) and the drama Into The Blue (2005).

What is the one product that you would not step out of the house without?

For me, it's all about ensuring that I have clean, hydrated and healthy skin.

With all the travelling that I do, this is really important. I love multitasking products, so I use a tinted moisturiser with SPF from Tata Harper that protects and freshens my skin.

What is your favourite perfume?

Joya Composition No.1 Parfum.

It is a citrusy-floral with sandalwood, musk and tonka bean.

What is your must-have grooming session?

I've been going to the aesthetician, Shani Darden, who is based in Los Angeles, for years.

If I don't have time for Shani, I'll do a deep cleanse with the Braun Facial Cleansing brush (right);

it's like having a mini at-home facial.

In your opinion, what is the best beauty invention ever?

My hair freaks out sometimes, considering what I put it through for work. I don't try to iron it out; instead, I love the Braun Satin-Hair 7 brush, which is gentle on the hair.

What is the most ridiculous thing you have done in the name of beauty?

I over-plucked my brows.

It's something I learnt watching my mother: looking good is feeling good.

Beauty reflects your inner strength and your best self, whether you have your make-up and hair done or not.

And remember that your skin is a canvas, so taking care of it is important.

Staying hydrated is where it starts, from drinking enough water to using a humidifier in the room, and wearing moisturiser and sunscreen.
