She is a biker chick who rides a 400cc super four. She works as a pharmacy technician at Mount Pleasant Vet Centre while pursuing her bachelor's in Human Resource Management part-time at Singapore Institute of Management.
On Aug 22, Miss Rathi Menon was crowned Miss Universe Singapore 2014 at the finals held at Shangri-La Hotel.
It was attended by about 400 guests. The 23-year-old beat 11 other finalists and will be representing Singapore at the international Miss Universe pageant in December. She said: "I am very excited and honoured to represent Singapore on an international level."
While she said that she found the catwalk most challenging due to a lack of modelling experience, she said training with international celebrities and stylists provided by the organiser Derrol Stepenny Promotions helped her a lot.
"If you put in the effort, and keep practising, you can do it. Anyone can do anything if you believe in yourself," she said.
From eating healthy to exercising, preparations for the big pageant have started, said the young beauty queen who believes in keeping fit rather than looking sexy.
She said: "I am looking forward to meeting the other participants, learn more about the cultures of the other girls, and I hope to make some good friends there."
On her interest in motorbikes, she said her sister was her inspiration.
"As a young girl, I used to see my sister taking bike lessons and I found it so cool," she said.
Miss Menon won $5,000 in cash and diamond earrings worth over $30,000 among other prizes.
She was also given two subsidiary awards - Miss Brilliance and Miss Personality.
Model and entrepreneur Arrian North and law student Ijechi Nwaozuzu, both aged 20, came in first and second runners-up respectively.
