Japanese make-up label Heroine Make, known for its mascaras and eyeliners, has partnered Japanese contact lens brand Seed for a new design of lenses.
The light brown contacts are made to enlarge and define the iris for a sparkly, bright-eyed effect.
The colour pigments in the hydrogel lenses are sealed, so they do not come into contact with the eyes.
The lenses also come with a UV absorber to protect the eyes from harmful sun rays. Review: Coloured contact lenses usually give me a headache as a ring of colour around my pupils tends to cloud my vision.
Some brands of coloured contacts also shift around my iris as I blink, which adds to the discomfort.
I did not have such problems with the Seed lenses. I also like the hydrogel material, which kept my eyes from becoming dry even when I wore the lenses the entire day.
The effect of these coloured lenses was also rather subtle. I was glad I did not look like an alien after I put them on.
The Seed x Heroine Make 1 Day UV lenses cost $62 for a box of 30. For stockists, go to seedasia.sg/where-to-buy.
