Bringing out the best in you

MAC PREP + PRIME HIGHLIGHTER (Photo 1)

$41

This 3.6ml MAC highlighter comes in a click-type brush pen, which makes application very simple.

I decided to try the Prep + Prime Highlighter two different ways. Surprisingly, it works well for both.

The multi-functional pen can be used before your make-up is applied, to brighten your face and neutralise your skin tone. It can also be used as a highlighter on top of your usual foundation coat.

Quite impressive.

It comes in three shades - Bright Forecast, Light Boost and Radiant Rose (light shell pink).

Available at all MAC stores.

STILA ALL OVER SHIMMER DUO (Photo 2)

$32

This can be used as an eye shadow, cheek colour or highlighter.

The bronzer side of the duo compact palette helps you achieve the Kylie Jenner look when you brush the powder inwards from the outer part of your face, right under your cheekbones.

The pink blusher side didn't give me the highlighted look I was expecting.

That aside, it worked well as a cheek colour when I brushed it on lightly and left the natural flushed look, which I quite liked. Available at all Sephora stores.

YVES SAINT LAURENT TOUCHE ÉCLAT (Photo 3)

$57

A sleek gold pen that has given a new life to many women's complexion.

The 2.5ml product works as a concealer but it does wonders when used as a highlighter.

I used the YSL Touche Éclat on the "highlighting areas" of my face and found that it concealed discolouration.

The "miracle pen" also created the illusion of a sharper nose and jawline.

A tip to picking the perfect highlighter - choose one that is two shades lighter than your skin tone.

Pick from five shades: Luminous Vanilla, Luminous Almond, Luminous Sand, Luminous Praline and Luminous Mocha.

Available at all Yves Saint Laurent Beauty stores.
