Charmaine Sheh wins big at TVB awards, named TV Queen

SINGAPORE - Actress Charmaine Sheh was undoubtedly the biggest winner at the 48th TVB Anniversary Awards when she was named Hong Kong television's most popular actress, said media reports online.

The 39-year-old returned to the screens with a comeback role in crime drama Line Walker and her popularity has been soaring ever since, said news reports. The Straits Times said Sheh had left TVB for two years, during which she went to China to focus on her career.

Her performance won her the Best Actress award, and together with actor Roger Kwok, they were both crowned TVB's TV King and Queen at the awards which concluded on Dec 15.

The Best Actress award was decided by a panel of judges and audiences. According to entertainment news site Jayne Stars, Sheh received all 50 per cent of votes from TVB's professional judges' votes and 28.6 per cent of the 50 per cent of viewer votes to secure the title.

During the evening, the Hong Kong native also bagged the My Favorite Female Character award.

Dressed in a white frilly, high-collared gown, Sheh said that she was very lucky to have landed the role in Line Walker, reported Jayne Stars. She added that winning a TVB award is not easy, and that it requires many sacrifices and luck.

Sheh also shared that she has been frequently under a lot of stress and thanked her mother for her "bright smile" and support.
