David Gan's special gift for Fann Wong's baby

SINGAPORE - What do you get for a baby who has everything?

Celebrity couple Fann Wong and Christopher Lee's bundle of joy has been showered with many lavish gifts since he was born on National Day, but hairstylist and a close friend of the couple David Gan says he has a special present for baby Zed.

In a phone interview with SPH Razor, he said in Mandarin: "Buying gold should be enough for young children."

"Maybe I'll buy him a gold bar?

"When he grows up, he can use the gold bar to buy nice clothes for himself."

Wong delivered the baby via C-section after a 10-hour-long labour. This is the couple's first child since they got married five years ago.

Gan says it wasn't a planned birth as the couple wanted to deliver naturally. According to published reports, the couple also deliberately opted not to know the sex of the baby.

Said the celebrity crimper, who visited Wong after baby Zed's birth: "She texted me while I was working.

"She gave birth the day before I was supposed to fly to Beijing. So I visited her at the hospital.

"Both mother and son are doing well, baby Zed is healthy and very cute. He has a full head of hair.

"I'm very happy for her but also concerned.

"All these feelings came up when I saw her at the hospital. Seeing her as a mother, I really admire her."

Despite being only a few days old, baby Zed has all the makings of a future celebrity.

"He has very fair skin like Fann, his features look like Christopher," said Gan.

One thing's for sure, we'll definitely be seeing more of baby Zed soon.
