Is social media the latest hotbed of big relationship reveals by celebrities?

Following Mandopop star Jay Chou's very first and very public admission on Weibo that he is in a relationship with model Hannah Quinlivan, 21, Taiwanese singer Elva Hsiao seems to have followed suit.

Singaporean businessman Elroy Cheo all but confirmed rumours about their relationship on Dec 4, when he posted a photo of himself and Hsiao in an intimate pose on his Instagram account.

The photo shows Cheo with his arm around Hsiao, while she sits next to him with her bare legs resting on his lap. The pair, dressed in black, smile coyly at the camera.

Cheo also tagged Hsiao in the post, which implies that the singer is well aware of the big reveal, reported news and entertainment site, Omy.

Just like Chou, could this signal that wedding bells will be ringing soon for the pair?

Hsiao, 35, has been linked to Cheo, 31, after she called it quits with actor Kai Ko in March. But the popular singer has never officially acknowledged the romance despite numerous sightings of them together.

In July, Hsiao responded to the media's queries about Cheo: "He is a good man who is worth getting to know," she said and asked for space so that she could do "what feels at heart to be happy and comfortable".

She added that a romance would be a comforting and happy experience, Apple Daily reported.

Cheo, whose sister Arissa Cheo is married to singer Van Ness Wu, works on city development projects in Hangzhou, China, according to The Straits Times.

Apple Daily added that Cheo is heir to their family's palm oil business with assets worth NT12.9 billion ($540 million).
