Emma Watson's romantic date with guy turns sour

Emma Watson has revealed her date got "tetchy" after she offered to pay for the bill after their romantic meal.

The 24-year-old actress has admitted she was left in an "uncomfortable" situation after a man she was once romancing got upset when she attempted to foot the bill for their dinner.

Speaking during a live Facebook Q&A to mark International Women's Day yesterday (08.03.15), she recalled the encounter: "It was really awkward and uncomfortable. It was not going down well. I'm sure he would say he was a feminist but he was just like, ooh, I'm not really sure about this, it's making him feel a bit tetchy."

However, the 'Noah' star - who was famed for her role as Hermione Granger in the 'Harry Potter' franchise - went on to discuss the bizarre incident with her date and managed to work out a way to settle the pay disagreement.

She explained: "The cool thing was that we were both willing to have the conversation about why it was awkward, or why it was uncomfortable. We were able to have this dialogue.

"I chose the restaurant because it's my favourite restaurant. I would love to pay, but next time, you choose the place and you pay, or whatever it is. The key is chivalry should be consensual, both parties should be feeling good about that."
