Firm up for a V-shaped face

A good skincare routine that keeps the skin clean, moisturised and protected against the ageing effects of the sun can help keep one's face looking fresh and more defined as the years pass.

But is there more that can be done to give skin a lift and help it retain that youthful bounce?

Creams, serums and masks aimed at improving sagging skin and targeted at reducing swollen features caused by water retention can help to create that V-shaped face and defined jawline.

1. Time Freeze Firming Sleeping Mask, $53, from Laneige, available from Tangs at Tangs Plaza from tomorrow and at all Laneige counters from Sept 23

The mask contains ingredients such as carob tree extract and yarrow extract, which the label claims will help to achieve youthful and sharp facial contours. The product's formula also contains two variants of polymer, which the brand says replenish the skin with elastic elements to improve skin firmness.

2. V-Facial Intensive Wrap, $93, from Clarins counters

This is a rich yet lightweight mousse mask that contains extracts of zerumbet ginger and escin from horse chestnut. The label claims it has draining properties that help to visibly reduce puffiness.

3. New Dimension Shape+ Fill Expert Serum, $225 for 50ml and $153 for 30ml, from Estee Lauder, available at Estee Lauder Boutique at Ion Orchard and major department stores

The serum aims to give more structure and definition to the face through a pro-collagen complex which the brand says will make the skin look firmer, more lifted and more contoured.

It also has a soft feminine scent with notes of mandarin, cucumber and rose.

4. Plantscription Powerful Lifting Neck and Decollete Treatment, $110, from Origins, available at the Origins store at Ion Orchard and major department stores

This is a targeted treatment for the neck and decollete area which the label claims visibly lifts, firms and redefines skin's support structure. The emulsion absorbs quickly and contains ingredients such as anogeissus bark extract and commiphora which the label says help to reduce the appearance of sagging.
