Film-maker Miranda July and designer brand Miu Miu have launched Somebody, a new Apple iPhone application which allows you to message your friends in a novel way.
Instead of sending a message directly to your friend, the application sends it to somebody nearby - not necessarily someone you would know, who will deliver the message to your friend in real life.
Type a message and give stage directions, such as a hug, fist-bump or kiss. The application will then show you a list of people close to your friend, who can help you deliver the message.
It is then up to this stranger to look for your friend based on his or her profile photo.
The application works best when there are more people on it, so get your friends to download the application for free on the Apple App Store. All users have to sign up with an e-mail address and a clear head shot.
Somebody was part of Miranda July's short film of the same name. In it, you can spot Miu Miu's autumn/winter 2014 collection and see how the application works. The film can be viewed at www.miumiu.com. July has directed the films Me And You and Everyone We Know (2005) and The Future (2011).
