NILAI: Employers, especially those in the private sector, should introduce a flexi-hour employment system to encourage more women to join the workforce, says MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.
"With the advent of technology, employers can also consider allowing female employees to work from home.
"It is imperative that more women join the workforce and be more involved in national development," he said after launching the Malaysian Chinese Women Blueprint (2015-2018) brainstorming session here yesterday.
Liow said the Government was working to have 30 per cent women represented at the top management and professional positions in various organisations.
"The Government should also provide more incentives or tax breaks to employers who allow their female staff to work flexi-hours or if they provide child care facilities at their workplace.
"We need women to play an even bigger role to develop this country and they can only do so if they are in the mainstream of development," he said.
