Joanne Peh marries Qi Yuwu: Wedding pics jumping the Gan?

The Internet was abuzz after celebrity hairstylist David Gan posted two "teasing" photos on his Instagram account on Tuesday.

One was of the back view of a woman with a bridal veil, believed to be Joanne Peh, with the caption in Chinese: "My other daughter is married (off)".

The second photo, taken in the day, was the back view of a couple, believed to be Peh and fellow TV star Qi Yuwu, both in white, with the view of the Merlion statue.

There have been no other comments or posts from anyone who may have attended the wedding. But when contacted, a source close to Peh confirmed that the couple had wed.

It is believed they will be releasing a statement today confirming it.

Netizens were quick to offer their congratulations to Qi, 37, and Peh, 30, who were understood to have tied the knot in a private ceremony at Sentosa on September 9.

But many were shocked by the "sudden" wedding.

Twitter user @bloodandscars tweeted in caps: "WHAT. JOANNE PEH IS MARRIED?!"

Another user, @Pingzxz said: "Qi Yu Wu and @JoannePeh really knows how to keep secrets!"

Celebrities that The New Paper contacted yesterday too, were surprised at the quiet affair.

"Really! There was no news of them getting married at all although I know they are quite stable. But I'm very happy for them," said fellow Channel 8 actress Pan Lingling when contacted.

"It's time for them to get married. I had told Joanne when I was 29, I was already a mother," said Pan, 44.

Peh's Code of Law co-star Keagan Kang, 38, was equally surprised.

"I had no idea they are married. She did mention to me that she was very in love and had talked about settling down last year," said the Singapore-based Australian actor."It's fantastic, I think it's a beautiful thing to be in love," he added.

Local radio DJ Joakim Gomez, 26, aired his disbelief on Twitter: "No. Really. This caught me by surprise."

FORMER BOYFRIEND

Peh's former boyfriend, Bobby Tonelli, was equally surprised when contacted.

But the Singapore-based Italian-American radio DJ, who had publicly dated Peh for four years in a high-profile relationship, had only nice things to say to his former girlfriend.

"I'm very happy that she found the happiness that she deserves. Everything happens for a reason - I'm in a beautiful relationship and so is she. There's always a silver lining in everything," said Tonelli, 38.

Attempts to contact Gan, 52, and Peh yesterday were unsuccessful.

MediaCorp's Xinmsn congratulated the couple, posting on Twitter: "And another celeb couple ties the knot. Our warmest congrats to Qi Yuwu & @JoannePeh", followed by a tweet of Peh's photo in her gown.

According to a social media post by Her World Brides Singapore, Peh had slipped on a scoop-back wedding gown by Singaporean fashion designer Lai Chan.

News first broke of Peh and Qi's relationship in April last year, soon after the actress ended her relationship with Tonelli.

In a tell-all interview with 8 Days magazine, the pair detailed the beginnings of their romance with Peh describing it as a "stable, I've-known-you-all-my-life feeling".

The China-born Qi and Peh had been friends for a decade and had starred in dramas together including C.L.I.F., C.L.I.F. 2 and C.L.I.F. 3.
