Job can wait, it is my daughter that matters now, says woman

JOHOR BARU - A housewife has decided not to start her new job as a cashier next month but will instead take care of her three-year old daughter who suffered bruises, believed to have been caused by her babysitter.

"The thought of me leaving my baby under the care of someone else really scares me now,'' Lau Hui Choon said yesterday.

Lau had been sending her daughter and one year-old son to the babysitter in Skudai here for several days after finding out about her services online.

On Thursday night, the 33-year-old received a call from the babysitter asking her to fetch her children.

Lau said the babysitter told her she had caned her daughter because she was naughty. She later discovered bruises on her daughter's body, including on her hands and legs.

She said her daughter was admitted to Hospital Sultan Ismail in Pandan here on Friday and would be there until tomorrow.

Nusajaya OCPD Supt Noor Hashim Mohamed said police would call the babysitter and record a statement to assist in the investigation.
