Lucky shot for man on Valentine's Day date

A date with his girlfriend at Bugis+ on Valentine's Day turned out to be more than just a romantic one for C. Y. Chuah.

He ended up as one of the winners for a photo contest at the My Paper Love Hunt event on Feb 14.

The 27-year-old, who works in the oil and gas industry, and his girlfriend had chanced upon the Love Hunt being held at the mall.

Apart from a treasure-hunt race for 92 teams, the event also included a photo contest that shoppers could join.

They had to take a photo and upload it to Instagram with the tags #MyPaperLoveHunt2015Draw, #Bugis+ and #BugisJunction

Mr Chuah decided to try his luck, and whipped out his smartphone to snap a photo of the Love Hunt teams.

He had not won anything in a lucky draw before, so he was pleasantly surprised to learn that he was one of five people to win 100,000 Star$, the equivalent of $100 worth of CapitaVouchers, for his efforts.

The winners were randomly picked from valid entries.

On how he plans to spend his prize, Mr Chuah said he would "probably buy a gift for my girlfriend".

This is the Love Hunt's third year. Presented by Bugis+ and Bugis Junction, the event featured 15 stations spread across the two malls, with each station featuring a challenge for the teams.

The teams had vied for the top prize of $2,000 in cash and a Huawei smartphone. Other prizes included Montblanc fountain pens, and USB multi-card readers from Mitsubishi Electric.
