Maggie Cheung spotted looking like "a bag of bones", but happy: Report

Hong Kong actress Maggie Cheung was spotted last month at a supermarket in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong, but instead of looking glamorous, her appearance shocked many.

Covered from head to toe and wearing sunglasses, a gaunt-looking Cheung had the public openly pointing out how much weight she had lost, Jaynestars reported.

The 50-year-old Cheung also looked like "a bag of bones" according to Chinese entertainment site QQ Entertainment.

However, despite looking extremely thin, QQ Entertainment reported that Cheung was still "glowing", reportedly because of a new man in her life.

After being single for two years, Cheung has been in a new relationship since Jan this year with a man who appears to be in his 30s. Reports identified the man as Adrian da Silva, who is of Spanish-Chinese descent. He is said to be at least 15 years younger than Cheung.

Chinese news site Sohu reported that Cheung and Silva bonded through their common passion for music and ultimately went into a relationship after Silva relentlessly pursued her.

However, there are conflicting reports as to who pursued whom.

Sohu reported that Cheung initially saw Silva as a friend but his "persistent chase" ultimately resulted in their relationship despite their huge age gap.

On the other hand, a separate report by Asian entertainment news site Jaynestars said that it was Cheung's "consistent pursuits" that led to their eventual relationship. QQ Entertainment also said that because of Cheung's initiative in asking Silva out on dates, the couple eventually got together very quickly.

According to Jaynestars, the pair met years ago in a recording studio. Cheung had been investing more time to make music over the past few years after retiring from acting and Silva is a former member of the indie band Audiotraffic.

Before Silva, Cheung was in a relationship with German architect Ole Scheeren, who was seven years younger than her. They began dating in 2007 but broke up in 2012.

Since then, despite her successful showbiz career, she decided to concentrate on singing, film editing, and being a DJ, according to Jaynestars.

According to QQ Entertainment, the couple is currently living together.

With regards to their relationship, netizens have criticised Cheung for finding yet another non-Chinese and much younger man as her boyfriend, with netizens likening their pairing to that of "mother and son".
