Mikimoto launches Hello Kitty collection in Singapore

SINGAPORE - Japanese luxury jeweller Mikimoto recently celebrated the first anniversary of its Singapore flagship boutique at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands with the launch of the exclusive Mikimoto x Hello Kitty collection.

The collaboration between these two iconic Japanese brands was also done in honour of Mikimoto founder, Kokichi Mikimoto, who had wished "to grace the necks of women everywhere in the world with pearls".

Mikimoto's design team made the effort of incorporating Hello Kitty elements into their jewellery line which comprises 10 designs including pendants, earrings and a silver bangle.

Colourful enamels and diamonds were used to represent Hello Kitty's iconic ribbon, that was also complemented with Mikimoto's signature round pearls.

As part of the anniversary celebration, Mikimoto flew in two special jewellery collections to showcase.

One of them consisted of six unique Mikimoto x Hello Kitty jewellery creations, including a statement-piece tiara that features the shape of Hello Kitty's face in the centre.

The rest of the collection featured a choker, hair accessory, necklace, bracelet and brooch, all inspired by Hello Kitty.

The other collection that was brought in had three delicate pieces in all: A long necklace inspired by shawls worn around the neck, another long necklace that had cascading strands of pearls and a Gothic-styled choker made up of a combination of small as well as large Akoya pearls.

With no trace of Hello Kitty at all, these three pieces shouts about what the luxury jeweller is famous for - elegance with a mix of modern flair.

The Mikimoto x Hello Kitty collection is available at all local Mikimoto boutiques. There are 3 outlets at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, Takashimaya and Centrepoint.
