SINGAPORE - Japanese retailer MUJI is set to open its first Cafe&Meal outlet in Singapore come September.
The 122-sqm self-service cafe will open at Paragon shopping centre at Orchard Road on Sep 5, next to the existing MUJI store, which will be undergoing a revamp as well.
This will be Cafe&Meal MUJI's 5th outlet outside of Japan, in addition to its 23 outlets across Japan.
According to a statement from MUJI, the concept behind the cafe's menu is, "Simple food is delicious".
Using seasonal ingredients which will be sourced mainly from Singapore and Malaysia, the company will adopt a "simple method of cooking that brings out the taste of the ingredients".
But the variety of dishes in the menu will be similar to what is offered in Japan, according to MUJI.
There are also plans to serve several kinds of desserts at the outlet, starting with the popular Baked Pudding that is available in Japan.
