New boys in town: Rue Madame

03-13C Takashimaya Shopping Centre

Feed your obsession for dressing like a Parisian at Rue Madame. The 1,000 sq ft space is the first concept store in Singapore devoted to French brands - including Athe by Vanessa Bruno, Iro, Gat Rimon, Leon & Harper and Tara Jarmon - that are tres chic.

The items from all the 40-plus labels have been personally selected by Rue Madame founder Ms Ariane Zagury, who opened her first Rue Madame store in Hong Kong back in 2010.

Prices range from $70 for an accessory to $1,800 for a dress.

Ms Zagury says that to dress like a Parisian is "not to overdo things".

"You must look good, but you must not look like you've prepared for hours," says Ms Zagury.

An essential in every Parisian's closet? A great jacket, or several of them, she says.

"Parisians are not about the bling bling. We tend to shy away from logos - people should be asking you where you got that amazing bag or bracelet, rather than identify where it's from.
